Context
Floating licenses can be provided as Single-Facility Floating License (LAN) or Multi-Facility Floating License (WAN). The conditions of usage of your floating license will depend on the purchased option.
Description
Floating license definition:
A license to the Software limited to use on the Licensee Network on which the Software is initially installed, connected to a server for which a Floating License Key has been issued for a specific maximum number of simultaneous users, or “Network License Seats.” Thermo Fisher will provide to Licensee with a License Key that will unlock the usage of the Software for a specific maximum number of Network License Seats. Thermo Fisher provides options to use a Floating License on a LAN (Local Area Network) or a WAN (Wide Area Network).
- Single-Facility Floating License (LAN):
A LAN is an internal computer network confined to a building or group of buildings within a two (2) kilometer radius.
- Multi-Facility Floating License (WAN):
If the Licensee purchased a Multi-Facility Floating License, the Licensee may install and use the software on any platform supported by Thermo Fisher on one (1) Licensee's internal Wide Area Network (WAN) by the licensed number of concurrent users.
A WAN is a corporate internal computer network with several buildings over the world. WAN is only applicable to Commercial customer who wants many simultaneous users in different locations and/or time zones.
