Slow server startup is often due to communication issues between the Thermo Scientific software client application and the server.

 

Suggested Solution

 

Here are some steps you can take to diagnose the issue:

 

1. Check the time required to verify a FlexNet license.

  • On the client machine, create the environment variable VSG_LICENSE_DEBUG.
  • Set VSG_LICENSE_DEBUG to a file name (ensure the specified directory is writable), then start the client application.
  • Licensing debug information will be written to the specified file when the client application launches.

2. Verify that the DNS search path is configured correctly.

3. Check the network routing between the server and the client. Use the following tools to trace packet routes:

  • Linux/macOS: traceroute
  • Windows: tcproute.exe
