Amira 3D Pro, Avizo 3D Pro
Issue
When running the AI Assisted Segmentation or other Deep Learning features within the software, no result can be achieved and an error message is displayed with the following content in its details: "Import fails on Windows: ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found."
Reason
There exist specific versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11 called Windows 10 N, Windows 10 KN, Windows 11 N, and Windows 11 KN. These specific versions of Windows are essentially the same as their regular counterpart but without some media features that are generally provided directly with Windows in accordance with regional regulations. These missing features include image processing libraries that are necessary for the proper execution of our AI Assisted Segmentation and other Deep Learning algorithms within Amira and Avizo.
Prerequisite
The following steps require being logged on an administrator account on Windows to perform the steps. Afterwards, running Amira or Avizo can be done with any account on which the software was installed.
Suggested Solutions
- Windows 10 N/KN: Select the Start button, go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Optional features > Add a feature. Then locate the Media Feature Pack in the list of available optional features.
- Windows 11 N/KN: Select the Start button, go to Settings > Apps > Optional features. Select View features next to Add an optional feature, and then select the Media Feature Pack in the list of available optional features.
Windows might require a restart to complete the installation.
