[Amira 3D Pro, Avizo 3D Pro]
Context
When performing segmentation and analysis, you may want to determine exactly how many pixels or voxels belong to a specific material or label.
This can be done using the Label Analysis module, which is described in more detail below.
Prerequisites
An Amira-Avizo Software 3D Pro license is required to perform the following workflow.
Process
1. Ensure that you have a label image from a previous segmentation.
2. Create and attach a Label Analysis module to that label image.
3. Do not connect a grayscale/intensity image if your goal is to determine the voxel count per material.
4. Define a new measure using one of the two methods below. See Steps for Adding a New Measure if you are unsure how to proceed.
- Use the Voxel Count measure, which provides a result equivalent result to Material Statistics (deprecated since version 2025.1).
- Define Volume3d/(cx* cy* cz) as a custom measure.
5. Click Apply on the Label Analysis module and review the generated spreadsheet.
Steps for Adding a New Measure
1. Add a Label Analysis module and click the ... button next to Measures.
2. Click Create a new measure group. Enter a name for the measure group and click OK.
2.1. Click Custom Measure to add a new measure.
2.2. The Measure Editor opens. In the open editor, enter the desired measure, either VoxelCount or Volume3d/(cx* cy* cz), and click Close.
2.3. Click ">" to add the native measure into the group. You can create a new group or add it to an existing group.
2.4. Click OK to assign the measure group to the Measures port of the Label Analysis module.
