Issue
Certain Windows Display Settings > Scale & Layout values may cause user interface display issues in Amira-Avizo:
Typical symptoms include incorrectly sized or improperly displayed user interface elements, such as the Preferences dialog or the Segmentation workroom when using the right-hand viewers, as shown in the examples below.
Reason
These issues are related to the way the application handles Windows display scaling. Under certain display configurations, some Scale & Layout values may result in incorrect scaling of resizable user interface components. This can cause dialogs or panels to be displayed with an incorrect size or layout.
The issue depends on a combination of factors, including the display resolution, DPI settings, monitor configuration, and selected scaling value. As a result, the behavior may vary from one system to another.
A permanent solution in Amira-Avizo is currently under investigation. However, due to the complexity of the underlying issue, no estimated timeline for a fix is available.
If you encounter this issue, try changing the Scale & Layout value or other display settings. See the Suggested Solution section below for the available workarounds.
Suggested Solution
If you need to use a Scale & Layout value that is not recommended by Windows, you can work around the issue by overriding the application's DPI scaling behavior:
1. Open the application's Properties:
1.1 Right-click the application shortcut.
1.2 Select Properties.
2. Open the Compatibility tab.
3. Click Change high DPI settings.
4. Enable Override high DPI scaling behaviour.
5. From the drop-down list, select System.
6. Click OK to confirm all the changes.
7. Restart the application.
The image below shows these settings on Windows 11.
