[Thermo Scientific License Manager (LM)]

Process

When using floating licenses, an external server typically hosts all the licenses. To configure the server:

1. Launch Thermo Scientific License Manager (LM)

  • If you have not activated any product, LM indicates that no product is activated on your computer.

  • Click Add license(s), and then License server.

  • If you already have one or more products activated on your computer, LM lists the activated products. In the Server tab, click Add Server.

2. In the license server display:

  • Enter the server name (or its IP address) followed by a port if there is a specific one (if not specified, the default port range is 27000-27009):

server_name|IP>:<port>

For more information, consult KA-01317 "Manage Floating Licenses: Find Server Name and Port".

  • Click Save to add the server to the list of available sources for license searches.

3. The available features display in the Server tab if LM can reach the server.

Click Refresh to update the displayed information, including server status, available licenses, and tokens.

4.  (Optional) If LM cannot reach the server, the Floating server not alive dialog will be displayed. This dialog provides information about the server connection error and offers suggestions to resolve it.

Select Change to modify the server configuration, or Save anyway to save despite the "Not Alive" status.

Notes: If the license server status is "Not alive", no licenses are displayed in the Server tab.
