Context & Prerequisites

 

Thermo Scientific software can be sold as yearly renewable subscriptions. These time-limited licenses typically expire after one year, preventing the client application from running upon expiration.

Assuming that the subscription has been renewed, you will need to reactivate the licenses to update the expiration date.

 

Important: You cannot perform the reactivation steps earlier than 14 days before your license(s) expiration.

 

Process

 

After updating your license file using the procedure in article KA-01266 "Reactivation on Server - Update a License File with LM Portal", import it to the license server using one of the following methods:

  • Use Lmadmin Web Interface:

Open http://localhost:8090/vendor in a web browser on the server machine ot set up your license server as follows:

1.  Click Import License.

2.  Check Overwrite License File on License Server.

3. Browse to select the license.dat file generated by the Thermo Scientific License Manager (LM) portal.

4. Click Import License.

5. Click on the Vendor Daemon (asglmd/mcslmd) line.

6. Click Start if the Vendor Daemon is "Down", or Reread License Files if the Vendor Daemon is already "Up".

 

  • Use Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server (LMs) (Windows only):

1. There are two options to access and click the Import license file button:

  • In the Server Configuration tab:

  • In the License Administration tab:

2. In the Import license file display:

  • Click Add and browse to select the license.dat file generated by the Thermo Scientific License Manager (LM) portal.
  • Click Import.
