[Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server]

Issue

Some systems experience crashes at startup when launching the Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server. The application initiates, displays a blank screen, and then abruptly closes.

Reason

The Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server is built on Electron technology.

When launching an Electron application, it operates in "sandbox" mode. This sandbox feature is designed to enhance application security and isolate it from the underlying operating system. The sandbox environment imposes restrictions on the application's access to system resources such as files, networks, and hardware devices. If the application attempts to access restricted resources within the sandbox, it can lead to unexpected behavior or crashes.

Suggested Solution

To address this issue, a suggested workaround is to run the application in command line mode using the "--no-sandbox" option, which disables the sandbox mode.

Follow these steps:

1. In the Windows start menu, type cmd to open a command prompt

2. Navigate to Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server installation path (C:\Program Files\Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server by default)

3. Enter the following command: “Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server.exe” --no-sandbox

After running the command, the application should start without crashing.
