[Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server (LMs)]

Context & Prerequisites

Your floating licenses are tied to your server’s Host ID. If that Host ID changes—due to hardware replacement, server rehosting, OS reinstallation, environment consolidation, or decommissioning the old server—you will need to transfer the licenses to the server’s new Host ID.

Caution: The number of allowed transfers is limited.

Process

To transfer some or all of your Thermo Scientific Software licenses, request assistance from Customer Support.

1. Sign in to the Customer Support Center and open a License Transfer case in the My Support tab.

2. Customer Support will provide you with an updated license file to install on your new license server.

3. Then, follow these instructions to complete the installation:

  • On your new server, in Thermo Scientific License Manager for Server (LMs), click Import license file.

  • In the Import license file display, click Add and browse to select the license.dat file provided by Customer Support.

4. Click Import. A green pop-up will confirm the successful import.

5. Restart the server as prompted. A green pop-up will confirm the successful restart.

6. In the License Administration tab, click Check Licenses Status to verify that the update is correctly installed on the server (refer to article KA-01344, titled "Offline Checking Server Licenses Status Using License Manager for Server").
