[FlexNet License Server]

Context & Prerequisites

When a new version of a Thermo Scientific Software application is released, you must upgrade the activated licenses on your FlexNet license server to enable client application users to run the new version.

Important: For Avizo, Amira, and PerGeos, upgrades are only available for licenses in version 2021.1 or later.

If you are upgrading from a version earlier than 2021.1, first activate the license codes you received by email when version 2021.1 was released. Then proceed with the upgrade (refer to article KA-01257 "License Server: Activate (New) Licenses - Get the License Server Host ID").

Process

In order to update your license file you will need:

  • Your FlexNet license server Host ID and one of your license Order line numbers.

You can find this information in your server license file. Navigate to this file in the FlexNet Publisher under the Vendor Daemon General Configuration.

  • Open your license file. The Host ID of your license server is the string that follows the keywords SERVER this_host, and your Order line number is the string that follows the keywords SN=. If multiple licenses are installed on your server, any Order line number will suffice.

  •  A machine connected to the internet to access the Thermo Scientific License Manager portal.

Then follow these steps:

1. Open the TLM portal and go to the Upgrade menu: https://tlm-portal.com/operations/upgrade.

2. Select your machine Host ID type:

  • Ethernet address: The unique identifier derived from your network adapter's MAC address. This ties licenses to a specific machine for products like Amira-Avizo, OpenInventor, and ImageDev.
  • Athena platform ID: The specific platform identifier for Athena platform-hosted products.

3. Enter your license server Host ID and one of your license Order line numbers. Click Continue.

4. Enter the version you want to upgrade to. Select the licenses you want to upgrade and enter the number of tokens to upgrade for each license. The number of tokens to upgrade must be less or equal to the number of activated tokens.

5. Click Upgrade.

6. The upgrade result is displayed. Click Download License File to download your updated license file.
