[FlexNet License Server]
Context & Prerequisites
Thermo Scientific™ software products use the FlexNet licensing tool to support floating licenses, also known as network distributed licenses. This method allows the software to run on any computer that can communicate with the license server, providing more flexibility compared to node-locked licensing, which ties the product to a specific computer.
The FlexNet license server tracks the licenses in use for a software product and permits concurrent users to use the software simultaneously, up to the limit of available licenses.
The articles related to the license server (refer to the "Note" for the list of all the articles) provide instructions on server installation, configuration, and license administration. Comprehensive Product License Management Help is included with your server installation and is available here.
Warning: Installing and managing floating licenses is a complex task. It may require configuring firewalls, proxy servers, and a thorough understanding of your site's network configuration.
Ensure you have access to a knowledgeable and experienced IT team to provide the necessary support.
Process
Here are the steps to configure the Thermo Scientific Software client application to connect to the FlexNet license server.
On the client machine(s) where your Thermo Scientific Software is installed, configure your licensing mode:
1. Run Thermo Scientific License Manager.
2. If no product is activated, click Add license(s), and then click License Server.
4. If a product is already activated, click Add Server in the Server tab.
5. In the License server display, specify the name of the server (here "my-lic-server1"). The name can be specified using the hostname or the IP address followed by a port if there is a specific one.
